    Great Concept…but…., September 29, 2010

I loved the light covering a wide strip of the Kindle and not just one spot. I used different lights before and would have to keep adjusting to remove the glare. This lights up the whole screen quite well. I do think the battery life may be longer on other models, but I DO like this cover with the light attached, so I don’t have to carry another item, it’s all there!

What I didn’t like was that the cover with the light is longer, which for most is not a problem. For me, I like to tuck my Kindle in my purse so I have it with me. So, the extra length makes it a little more difficult. (need a larger purse!) This would be no problem for someone who doesn’t try to fit it in their purse and likes to keep it at home only.

Okay…the bad… one of the clips did break! I felt kind of scared just having those 2 tiny clips holding my valuable Kindle in anyway. I think Franklin has a great idea, here, that it just needs some refinement in the clip area.

I just got off the phone with Franklin customer service and they were VERY nice and helpful. They are going to replace my cover. I do plan on tieing my Kindle down in the new case, with the new clips. Overall, I really liked this case. I have a few different cases for my Kindle but like this one because of the light placement.

I purchased this from woot (an amazon company). I could not put my Kindle 2nd Generation device in the cover. The lower hook is too wide to fit in the slot on the side of the Kindle. YES, I followed the instructions and tried at an angle.
My friend has a cover that is the “official” cover from amazon. The bottom hook on the amazon cover is smaller and goes right in at an angle.
I was FINALLY able to get it to work after A LOT OF FORCE. Way more force than I felt comfortable using on my $190 Kindle! It’s so tight that I have to push the top hook up into place instead of it springing into place.
This product is not up to the high standards that I expect from a Franklin product. It is a DESIGN DEFECT. I have a Kindle. I purchased this product. No one at Franklin ACTUALLY TESTED THIS. They just leave that to the customer!

I have just received my replacement cover from Franklin after the 1st one I purchased from Woot broke due the defective design noted in the 2 reviews above. Same problem again. The bottom hook is angled down and does not fit in the slot. I have scratched my kindle trying to get it to fit and now I am officially giving up and going back to my M Edge with the floppy light <-(

I ordered this booklight with a reasonable amount of skepticism. In my past experience, booklights have been bulky, clunky, heavy, and they all seem to drain their batteries really quickly. However, this is far from the case with the stylish and small Verso. Good things come in sleek packages. The design of the product fits right in with the style of the Kindle.

First of all, the Verso is compact. It’s small enough to fold up and easily fit into your purse or pocket. Second, it clips onto my Kindle with ease, and works even with the leather case I have. The design of the Verso clip is done in such a way that it conforms to the shape of your Kindle. Third, the Verso is extremely lightweight. It doesn’t weigh down the Kindle, and the responsive bendable arm makes comfortable adjustment a cinch. You also don’t need to have it directly over the Kindle to give you enough light while reading.

Which brings me to my final and perhaps most important point: the Verso is BRIGHT. But not ‘ah! there’s glare on my screen!’ bright. It gives the perfect amount of natural looking light that is easy on the eyes. It also comes with two spare replaceable batteries, but I honestly can’t imagine using those anytime soon. I’ve been using the Verso with my Kindle every night since I purchased it, and it shows no signs of fading.

With these awesome features and ease of use, the Verso was a strong contender when I was shopping for booklights. The $19.99 price just sealed the deal. Overall, it’s a fantastic product for the money, and I would highly recommend it to those looking for a little e-book illumination.

Light is bright and excellent illumination for the Kindle screen! If you don’t travel a great deal, it’s a delight for sleepers who have reading spouses! Have only rated it a 3-star because of a battery compartment design issue. We travel a great deal and there is no case nor protection for the on/off switch. Therefore, the light inadvertently gets turned on while in the bag, then has no battery life left when needed. To get around this problem, we must remove the batteries after each use and then re-install, which is time consuming and awkward. Please re-think the design and give us something more travel friendly.
