After reading on a bare Kindle Touch for a week, I was so happy to finally get this case. Since I have CaseCrown covers for my Kindle2 and Kindle3 keyboard models, I knew immediately that I wanted this brand for both my Kindle Touch and my Fire.

I always keep my cover on my Kindle because I like the secure feeling of having something to grip as well as a convenient place to attach my clip on book lights which I find don’t grip as tightly on the bare Kindle.

The red is a deep red, closer to burgundy than to an orange red. It’s very attractive and the texture is slightly pebbled and the covers on my older Kindles look as good as new.

Unlike the covers for the K2 and K3 which hold the Kindles in place with bands on the corners, the Regal Flip case permits the Kindle to slide into the top. It holds it very tightly without any danger of it sliding back out. I held the case upside down and shook it to be sure. The front cover easily bends around to the back and the magnet catches to hold it in place just as on the K2 and K3 models. I guess that is why it is called the “Flip” case.

It’s good to have a dressed Kindle 😉

Unbelievable value for the cost — one of the best purchases I’ve ever made on impulse, November 29, 2011

I bought this (in purple, not the red) as a cheap stopgap because Amazon was a month and a half behind on delivery of the Lighted Touch covers. However, I like this so much that I just canceled that order and will stick with this for the foreseeable future — for the difference in price I can buy a really nice booklight and still come out $30 ahead.

    Pros:
-The fake leather feels and looks fine to me, not cheap or plasticky. It’s padded, so the cover has some pleasant give/softness to it. The seams are all straight and even; it doesn’t look cheaply made.
-Magnetic closure keeps cover closed when not in use.
    -Kindle Touch fits perfectly.
    -Access to all ports/buttons.
-The purple is a nice deep, rich color.
-The credit card slots inside are super-convenient — I was actually surprised that this case has this feature, but the Amazon case does not. I live in NYC and prefer to keep my metrocard in my kindle case instead of in my wallet, that way I can just pull out my kindle (which I’m going to want to have out for my commute anyway) and leave my wallet safely in my purse.

    Cons:
At this price, the cons didn’t affect my rating at all, but things you should be aware of:
-The amount of padding, though it probably keeps the Kindle extra-safe, approximately triples the thickness of the Kindle. This is most noticeable to me when I fold the cover around the back to hold it in one hand while reading, because with the extra space between the back and the folded-back front of the cover, it’s equivalent to holding a decently thick paperback, which is noticeably a different experience from holding the caseless Kindle. For book-style holding, it doesn’t bother me at all, but if you slip your Kindle into a tight-fitting pocket or section of a purse, you might want to keep this in mind.
-The Kindle slides into the top of the case, and there’s nothing that holds it in from that direction. My Kindle is either upright (if I’m reading it) or sideways (if it’s in my purse) so it hasn’t been an issue for me, but if you toss your Kindle in a big bag it could slide out of the case. If I hold it upside-down, the fit is snug enough that it stays, but if I hold it upside-down and shake it a little, it slides out.
